There are a million and one things to remember when you're undertaking the arduous task of moving house. Thankfully, modern technology is making the management of your move a little bit easier if you take the time to search out and utilise some of the apps available to help with your move. Having a qualified moving assistant on your smartphone or tablet at your disposal 24/7 is an invaluable tool to have and a lot of the time, these apps are completely free or cost just a few dollars.
The best apps for moving house & move management
1. Moving House
This app is designed to help you stay organised throughout your move. It features a series of To Do lists in the build up to moving day including tasks that need to be completed week by week. It's got a very user friendly interface and is simple and uncomplicated to use.
2. Moving Van
We always advocate making an inventory of your home contents when packing it all up and loading it into one of our 20ft moving containers. This app is a super cool (and modern) way to make that task much easier than putting pen to paper. As you pack each box you can detail the contents within the app, take photos of the contents and then the app will assign each box a unique identifier (ie. Kitchen box 1) which you can refer back to. This is enormously helpful at the unpacking end of your move when you are faced with a mountain of boxes and can't remember what is in any of them. You can simply flick through your photos on the app and locate what you're looking for - find the corresponding box and save yourself a lot of hassle and stress!
3. Moving Checklist Pro
This is another great app for taking control of your entire move with checklists to ensure you stay on track in the lead up to your moving day. Prompting you week by week to complete tasks such as 'researching your new neighbourhood', 'obtaining your packing materials', 'arranging cancellation of your utilities' and 'researching new schools'. Nothing will get forgotten in the hectic weeks prior to moving.

1. Domain.com.au
Whether you're buying or renting, Domain has listing for properties for sale or rent as well as links to contact the agent directly from the app. You can shortlist your favourite properties and check out suburb profiles for the locations you are looking at.
2. Real Estate.com.au
Australia's most popular site for searching for a house online also comes in app form. Just like the website, you can search by suburb or price using parameters such as dwelling type, number of bedrooms / bathrooms etc.
3. Homely.com.au
The Homely app is available to download via a link of the homepage. With suburb reviews, agent finder, a blog and Q&A section, Homely has you covered with a great user friendly website and app that allows you to search for properties to buy or rent.
The best apps for settling into your new home
1. Urban Spoon
Discover where all the best cafes, small bars and pubs are in your new area. Check out menus, star ratings and reviews before planning your dinner out.
2. Google Places
Set your home location in the google places app and you can search nearby for whatever you need - restaurants, cinemas, doctors surgery's, library's - you name it, you can find it this way.
3. Houzz
Get ready to waste some serious time browsing in this app! Houzz is everything architecture, interior design, decorating and home improvement - you can browse thousands of images of other peoples homes to gain inspiration for your own. There are also articles, product recommendations and a user forum.
