Your COVID-19 Questions Answered

Can I still sell my house (or buy a house) during COVID-19?

The property market continues to operate with the safety and health of all concerned at the forefront of the real estate industry. As with nearly every industry,  COVID-19 has impacted greatly on the property market. Open homes, onsite or in-room auctions are no longer happening. Virtual and digital inspections are a lot more common although an in-person inspection can still be arranged by appointment. In short, if you need or want to sell or buy a home, you can still do this, there are just more restrictions in place to reduce the chances of transmission.

The state borders are closed - how do I move interstate?

In Australia, although many of the state borders are closed, as removals come under the classification of 'transport & logistics', they are an exemption for crossing closed borders. This means that your container can still be moved interstate within Australia without restrictions. Until there is advice to the contrary we will continue to offer our usual interstate removals service in light of the COVID-19 crisis.

Do I have contact with anyone if I move interstate using container removals?

Under the advice of the relevant regulatory authorities, Budget Self Pack Containers is now practising NO CONTACT pickups and deliveries for the safety and our staff and customers. When moving interstate with a self-load shipping container, you do not have removalists entering your house, the system is simple and effective especially when we are all practising social distancing.

I have to self-isolate for 14 days after crossing the border, how will my container get delivered if I'm not there?

We can offer the option to store your container at one of our secure depot locations at all locations across Australia.  Your container will be transported from the freight terminal at your destination to our depot where we can hold it indefinitely until you are ready to receive the container for unloading at your new address. (Additional charges will apply)

What will happen if Australia enters Stage 4 lockdown?

We are unable to comment on what restrictions may come into play if Australia were to move to a stage 4 lockdown. It is difficult to imagine that freight will be impacted as supply chains will need to be kept open to ensure essential items are still moving around Australia.

We realise that moving house during the COVID-19 pandemic is highly stressful and we are here to provide advice and solutions for people needing to move interstate during this period. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us to discuss any queries or concerns you may have, we are happy to assist you in any way we can.
